Vehicle Description

1979 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible – $9,999
Listed for sale by Central Classic Cars

8444 Central Ave, Sylvania, Ohio 43560 | 419-517-1795
Brief History
The Volkswagen Beetle, originally called the Volkswagen Type 1 or "The People’s Car," first rolled off the production line in 1945. Its distinctive design quickly earned it nicknames around the world: Käfer, Vocho, Coccinelle, Fusca, and Maggiolino. With over 21.5 million first-generation models sold, the Beetle became one of the most popular cars of all time. Known for its innovative air-cooled engine, affordability, and practicality, it required less maintenance than many American cars of the era. The Beetle also became a cultural icon in the U.S., symbolizing freedom, individuality, and the counterculture movement. Volkswagen retired the Beetle in 2019, marking 70 years of automotive history.
